Worcester police are investigating two separate cases of murder and one attempted murder that took place last week.
In the first incident a 24-year-old man fell victim to a vigilante attack in Zwelethemba on Wednesday 21 June.
“A police officer attended to a complaint about an unknown male who was assaulted by community members in Zweletemba during a vigilante attack,” a spokesperson for the Worcester police said.
“The police found the man lying on the ground with multiple open wounds to his head and a big bloodstained rock lying next to him. It was clear this person had been assaulted by someone before the police’s arrival on the scene. The public near the scene refused to give any details regarding the alleged vigilante attack.”
The victim survived the brutal attack and was transported to hospital for further treatment. A case of attempted murder was opened and is being investigated.
In the second incident, a man was murdered in Parker Street in the early hours of Friday 23 June.
“According to witnesses, around 04:40 the deceased who was standing outside his shack in Parker Street was called by two unknown men. He then ran out into the street where a group of men got hold of him and fatally stabbed him in the chest.”
A case of murder is being investigated. However, the suspects are still unknown at this stage.
On Saturday 24 June, at 04:00, a man was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head.
“A man was found in front of his shack in a yard in Bloedrivier, Roodewal,” the spokesperson related. “The person was shot in the left side of his head.
