Table tennis players from the Titans Club did very well during the Cape Winelands Junior Tournament. At the back are Robin Livesy-blom, Noah-Maria Reurink, Cughan Maart, Kyle Solomons, Jamie-Leigh Heyns, Jayrinn-Lee Apollis and Tamzin Human. In front are Luke Hofsta, Umr Jacobs, Eli Shortles, Mia Shortles, Zahrah-Skye Cupido, Eli Shortles, Kaiba Solomons, Colby Kleintjes and Brody Kleintjies.


Quick on their feet and quick of mind!

Young players of the Titans Table Tennis Club showed their mettle during the Cape Winelands Junior Tournament on 22 February. Many of the players entered as part of their schools’ teams.

There were 22 players from the club and they dominated in most of the categories in which they played. In the u-11 age group Mia Shortles of (Titans TTC) took the gold, Zahrah-Skye Cupido (Titans TTC) the silver and Luniko Dani the bronze. All three are from Winelands Primary.

Umr Jacobs (Winelands Primary) got gold (u-11 boys), Eli Shortles (Winelands Primary) took silver, and Jordan Pont (Worcester DRC Practising Primary) took the bronze. All three are from the Titans TTC.

Raquelle Vorster (Esselenpark Primary and Titans TTC) took gold (u-13 girls).

Robin Livesy-blom (Worcester Primary School and Titans TTC) took silver and Aasiya Stephanus (Winelands Primary) took home the bronze.

In the category for u-13 boys Brody Kleintjes took the gold, Kaiba Solomons the silver and Luke Hofsta the bronze. All three are from Winelands Primary and the Titans TTC.

Titans players that shone in the u-15 girls’ category were Noah-Maria Reurink (Lifestyle Christian Academy), who took gold, Jamie-Leigh Heyns (Worcester Gymnasium),who took silver and Tamzin Human (Montana High School), who got the bronze.

In the u-15 boys’ category Kyle Solomons (Worcester Gymnasium) took gold, and Jayrinn-Lee Apollis (Breëriver High School) bronze and Cughan Maart (Worcester Gymnasium) took home the bronze. All three are Titans players.

Following the success of the tournament, the club looks forward to the rest of the season. They will attend a few tournaments in Cape Town and hopefully participate in the nationals.

The club practices at the Worcester SOS (Nuwe Hoop Centre), 160 Leipoldt Avenue in Esselenpark.
