The Worcester local who was filmed urinating on a fellow student’s belongings in May has been expelled.
Theuns du Toit’s fate at Stellenbosch University was finally concluded as it was announced last Thursday (21 July) he would be expelled following a disciplinary hearing that took place in June.
The young man’s name was on the lips of the whole country for being at the centre of the racially motivated incident at the university’s Huis Marais residence.
- According to News24 , Stellenbosch University found Du Toit guilty of contravening several clauses of its disciplinary code for students.
University spokesperson Martin Viljoen said the findings led the Central Disciplinary Council (CDC) to conclude there was no alternative but to expel Du Toit with immediate effect.
“Once Mr Du Toit has received the reasons for the CDC’s decision he has five working days to file a notice of appeal against the CDC’s finding and/or sanction,” he said. “All cases are confidential, and the CDC considered whether the findings would be made public, which it decided to do in this matter.”
