Winelands Primary Scool’s rugby team, The Owls, made great waves when they set a record by winning 27 of 32 games all over the Western Cape only four years after the school was established. They scored 749 points in total against 247. The team, whose rugby kit was sponsored by teacher Floris van Zyl, and had no other sponsors, excelled despite the lack of resources. This year the school’s team was even invited to national tournaments. The boys responsible for putting the school on the map were honoured last week with a special booklet with their photos and all their achievements and received complementary jerseys and shorts. Coach Ian Olivier and Young Hamiltons Top 12 captain Philbrey Joseph were the motivational speakers.Foto:
