A business owner from Stofland in De Doorns was shot and killed during a robbery on Saturday 11 March.

The incident occurred at 19:30 at the OK Spaza shop.

“An unknown man entered the shop just as one of the workers there was about to close the gate,” a spokesperson for the De Doorns police said.

“The suspect ordered the man to lie down on the floor. The suspect took just over R40 000 in cash and a Samsung Galaxy phone before leaving the store.

“After the suspect had gone, the worker, who was still lying on the floor, heard gunshots fired outside and got up to see what was happening.

“When he went outside he saw the owner of the shop lying face down with an unknown number of gunshot wounds,” the spokesperson said.

“The employee contacted the police, but the owner of the shop had already died by the time the police arrived on the scene.”

At this point no arrests have been made.
