In an inspiring celebration of creativity and environmental consciousness, Winelands Primary School’s Eco-Club hosted a sustainable fashion show on Monday. The event featured an array of stunning outfits crafted entirely from recyclable materials, demonstrating the learners’ creativity and commitment to sustainability.

The fashion show highlighted the talent and creativity of learners from Grade 1 to Grade 7, each presenting unique themes through their eco-friendly attire.

The young models walked the runway with confidence and flair, showcasing designs that ranged from everyday wear to inventive pieces, all made from materials such as paper, plastic, and repurposed fabrics.

The highlight of the evening was the presence of guest judge Lara Klawikowski, an acclaimed South African fashion designer known for her innovative approach to sustainable fashion. Also an alumna of Worcester Gymnasium, she provided valuable insights into sustainable fashion. Klawikowski praised the learners’ efforts and emphasised the importance of sustainability in the fashion industry.

“I am truly impressed by the creativity and resourcefulness displayed by these young designers, they are so cute,” she remarked. “Such events encourage a new generation to think critically about their impact on the environment and find innovative solutions.”

The Eco-Club’s fashion show aimed to raise awareness of environmental issues and promote the practice of recycling and upcycling.

By transforming everyday waste materials into wearable art the students demonstrated how sustainability can be both fun and fashionable.

Parents, teachers and community members gathered to support the event, applauding the students’ efforts and enjoying the vibrant display of creativity.

Winelands Primary School’s Eco-Club continues to be a leader in promoting green initiatives, inspiring both students and the community to adopt more sustainable lifestyles.
