Worcester police are investigating a case of attempted murder and kidnapping after a victim from Zwelethemba survived what appears to be a vigilante attack at the weekend.
According to WO Vathiswa Jacobs, a spokesperson for the Worcester police, the two suspects approached the complainant and accused him of stealing baby clothes.
“They took the complainant, put him in a taxi, drove off with him to the field near Matroos Street and threw 5 litres of petrol over him.”
Jacobs said they further assaulted him with a car part and he lost consciousness. He woke up after a while and they further threatened to kill him if they saw him in the street again. The victim received medical treatment for the wounds he had sustained.
