Worcester’s Nande Mabala is setting her sights on the Miss World title.

WORCESTER – In a dazzling display of grace, poise and an unwavering commitment to social impact, Worcester resident and Miss SA second runner-up Nande Mabala has emerged as a semi-finalist in the prestigious Miss World pageant.

She recently shared this news on her Instagram page, reflecting on her decade-long dream of becoming Miss World. Mabala’s journey to the semi-finals has been fuelled by her passion for making a difference in the lives of South African children, particularly those in townships and rural areas.

“Becoming Miss World is a dream I have always had. As an empowered woman, daring to dream takes courage. Because of that courage I am doing this for my 17-year-old self and for every woman who has a dream that keeps them up at night. I’m excited about the journey ahead and the impact of the work I plan to do in the lives of children in the townships and rural areas of South Africa.”

Mabala’s dedication to her dream and her advocacy for children’s welfare have garnered significant support from her followers and the Worcester community.

She acknowledged this support with gratitude. “You have supported me in all my endeavours, whether it be wild, small or big,” she shared. “It’s the love and support I’m asking for now. Walk this journey with me and let’s change lives together.”

Mabala’s mother, Nomthunzi, in an exclusive interview, said: “Nande has always been a shining light in our family, and her recent accomplishments only solidify her position as a role model and an inspiration. As the second runner-up in the Miss South Africa 2023 contest and a current semi-finalist at Miss World South Africa, Nande has proven her excellence in grace, intelligence and dedication. Her journey in the pageant world is only one facet of her remarkable life.

She is also a successful model and the founder of a non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting the underprivileged.”

Her journey to the Miss World semi-finals, in addition to being a personal achievement, is a platform for furthering her mission of empowering underprivileged communities.

“One of Nande’s most impactful projects is her collaboration with a school in Zwelethemba,” her mother said, “where she is spearheading the development of a food garden on the school grounds.

“This initiative aims to combat food insecurity, a pressing issue that affects many communities. By providing fresh, locally-grown produce, the farm will help ensure that the children of Zwelethemba have access to nutritious food, which is essential for their physical and cognitive development.”

Mabala’s vision includes creating sustainable projects that will have a lasting impact on the lives of children, providing them with opportunities for education and personal growth.

As the Miss World competition progresses her supporters are eagerly watching her journey, inspired by her resilience and commitment to positive change.

In the coming months Mabala will continue to prepare for the Miss World pageant, focusing on her advocacy work and her personal development.

As she takes each step forward, she does so with the support and admiration of those who believe in her vision for a better future for South Africa’s children.
