Over the past five years, Langeberg Municipality has demonstrated exceptional performance in job creation through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP).

The EPWP aims to provide meaningful work opportunities to unemployed individuals, enhance community assets and contribute to economic inclusion and sustainable livelihoods.

Between 2019 and 2024, the municipality has significantly played a role in creating almost 4 000 work opportunities, surpassing their target by an impressive 161%.

“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Thandeka Danti and Loyiso Ngqakase, the dedicated EPWP clerks whose meticulous work in reporting and data capture has greatly contributed to this success,” the municipality said.

“Their commitment to ensuring all participants receive the appropriate protective clothing and ensuring all information is accurately maintained and readily available for audits has been invaluable.

“We also sincerely thank all the departments that provided co-funding for EPWP projects.

“Your support has enabled us to exceed our targets and effectively address unemployment in our area, bringing dignity and opportunities to our community.”

Langeberg Municipality remains committed to empowering residents and driving positive change through effective implementation of the EPWP.
