A 12-year-old boy from Worcester who made the Boland u-12 side took part in the National Indoor Cricket Championship in Pretoria.
Zade Amsterdam’s achievement in making Boland comes after starting indoor cricket as recently as eight months ago.
His overall performances at the tournament were exceptional and granted him a call-up to the u-12 South African indoor team.
It will tour South Africa, inland and coastal, from 30 September to 7 October.
Zade was also selected to be part of the World Cup trial squad that will attend camps in Cape Town, where a South African World Cup team will be selected to represent South Africa at the World Cup hosted in South Africa in March 2023.
The learner of Worcester North Primary School is also involved at the Worcester Cricket Academy, where he nurtures his skills.
He says this achievement is a huge honour for him and his family, and he hopes he will develop and mature from such an experience.
Any donations that the community wants to make to this very special occasion in this youngster’s career will be gladly appreciated by him and his family.
Anyone wanting to make a donation or further enquiries regarding this can contact Jerome Amsterdam 079 512 1622, or they can email the academy at info@worcestercricketacademy.co.za.
