Golden Valley supplies school with raincoats

Golden Valley Casino has stepped in to provide 321 children with raincoats to protect them during the Western Cape’s wet winter months. Sun International’s Golden Valley Casino and Lodge will spend just under R58 000 on the raincoats for students from Esselen Park Primary School. Keenan Bergins, General Manager of Golden Valley, explained the casino initially was going to donate shoes, but the principal requested raincoats instead. “The local communities that we support have basic but essential needs and we try as much as we can to meet these. The children at Esselen Park Primary don’t wear blazers, and few can afford protective coverings when it rains, so we agreed with the principal and donated rain jackets instead.” The school’s principal, Kevin Sass said the following: “Thanks to Golden Valley, our learners will be dry when they arrive at school this winter. They will be better able to concentrate in class as they won’t be shivering and cold. We are very grateful.”Foto:
