The Worcester police are looking for four suspects in connection with a house robbery and theft of an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspects entered a home in Concordia Street in Hex Park, Worcester at 02:05 on Tuesday 6 June.
“The complainant, a supplier of fruit and vegetables, and three others were in the house busy with invoices,” Warrant Officer Vathiswa Jacobs, a spokesperson for the Worcester police, related. “When they were done he and his wife went to their room and the other couple went to theirs after they had locked the house.
“The complainant and his wife were watching television when the door of their bedroom was suddenly kicked open and two African males, both armed with firearms, appeared. Another two suspects, also armed, went into the second bedroom.”
The four suspects threatened the four inhabitants of the house and demanded money.
“The suspects then told the complainant they were sent to kill him and he must tell them where the money is or he will kill his wife,” Jacobs said. “He told them the money was in the cupboard, where they went and took the cash, two cellphones and house keys, before fleeing the scene.”
Furthermore, he said at this stage it was unclear how the suspects gained entrance to the house. No shots were fired and no-one was injured in the incident.
The police were investigating a case of house robbery. No arrests had been made by this point.
