The Dis-Chem Ride for Sight road cycling event in Gauteng will take place on 19 February. This popular event is a seeding event for the 2023 Virgin Active, Ride in Johannesburg and the 2024 Cape Town Cycle Tour.
The event is great value for money with pre-entry participants in line for amazing gifts and vouchers.
Participants will receive a Dis-Chem goody bag, a Vision Works free eye care assessment voucher and a shopping voucher from Cycle Lab.
The 116 km Super Classic will be contested by the cream of South African cyclists and cash prizes will be awarded in all the racing categories.
The 62 km “DS – your life demands” fun ride caters for the young “wannabe” professionals and fun riders alike.
All entrants will be eligible for one of the lucky draw prizes worth R83 000.
The top prizes include a Venter Bike trailer, a Sealy Posturepedic queen-size base set, sunglasses, and hotel accommodation vouchers among many others.
A superb road bike valued at R20 000 from Cycle Lab is the prize on the donation draw. Retina South Africa would like to acknowledge the Dis-Chem Foundation, who have once again pledged to match all participant donations to this special competition, of amounts over and above their entry fee.
All proceeds from the event go directly to finding treatments for retinal blindness and to empower people with retinal vision loss. This event has raised over R10m over the last 33 years and remains one of the most popular cycling events on the Gauteng calendar.
