The Tour de Worcester, the iconic race that takes cyclists on a circuitous route from the beautiful Slanghoek Valley, took place this past Sunday (11 September). Myriad Events do around 18 to 20 events a year, and this is the second time they organised the Tour de Worcester. This is a charitable event to raise funds for the Lions Club of Worcester, in partnership with Afrimat, to enable it to fund various charitable projects in and around the town. There were four different distances this year: 135 km, 107 km, 66 km and 38 km. The winner of the 135 km race was mountain-bike champion Alan Hatherley, while the 107 km men’s race was won by Philipp Schmidt and the women’s by Taneel Otto.
