The dates have been confirmed for the 2024 Poetry in McGregor Festival, on the theme, “Longing for Home”, and the Afrikaans, “Heimwee”.
After celebrating the 11th Poetry in McGregor Festival last year, festival organisers gave much thought to the way forward. They elicited ideas and suggestions, all of which led them, in the words of John Lennon, to “Let it Be”.
So, in letting it be, the 2024 festival will celebrate and honour poetry in the same steady and deeply creative manner established by earlier festivals.
Poets will again gather at Temenos Retreat to respond to their muses and share their works. Those attending will be reminded of poetry’s important role in their lives, how deeply curative it can be, especially in current global troubled times.
Please diarise the weekend of 6 to 8 September 2024 and join us for what will again be a marvellous event.
Poets wishing to present at the festival can download the submission form on our website www.poetryinmcgregor.co.za or contact the festival coordinator at info@poetryinmcgregor.co.za. Submissions close 31 May 2024.
A call for entries to our Poetry In McGregor competition will be sent out on 30 May. No competition submissions will be accepted before 1 June.
