John Moore Animal Welfare in Robertson will be hosting a Mandela Day event in an attempt to sterilise 67 animals
John Moore Animal Welfare is a registered community veterinary clinic and non-profit organisation, hosted by Cornerstone Veterinary Services in Robertson, providing ongoing primary veterinary care services to underprivileged communities in Robertson and the surrounding areas.
To celebrate Mandela Day 2024, they have set themselves the seemingly impossible task of raising sufficient funds to sterilise, vaccinate, dip and deworm 67 animals on Wednesday 10 July at Nkqubela Community Hall from 08:00 to 17:00.
Many healthy pets face euthanasia each month because there are not enough homes. Did you know that an unsterilised female dog, her mate, and their unsterilised offspring can produce 67 000 dogs altogether in six years? Sterilisation is the only way we can prevent unwanted litters from being born. Let’s take hands and stop the breeding. Together we can all make a difference!
The cost to sponsor one animal’s sterilization is R250.
Alternatively, if you are able to assist us in any other way by either donating or sponsoring deworming medication, tick and flea treatment, dry pet food or any other veterinary or pet supplies, please let us know.
Or, if you are able to sponsor vouchers or prizes that we can raffle or auction to raise funds. Or, if you could perhaps provide food and drinks for our vets and volunteers we would also be grateful.
Donations of pet food and blankets can be ordered in person or via online platforms and delivered to Cornerstone Vet, 29 Truter Street, Robertson.
Each pet that is sterilised is sent home with a blanket and a bag of food.
