The Local Drug Action Committee of the Saldanha Bay Municipality’s Public Safety Awareness Unit engaged in a joint youth camp at the Saldanha Bay Military Academy, coordinated by multiple stakeholders.

Participants included the South African Police Services, the Saldanha Bay Military Academy, the Western Cape Education Department, the West Coast District Municipality and the Department of Correctional Services.

The objective of the youth camp in June was to educate and engage individuals from local high schools to comprehend crime and its underlying causes, while also empowering them to play a role in fostering a safer society.

Furthermore, it aimed to guide them in acquiring significant life-altering skills and, above all, to improve their academic performance in school.

The municipality thanked all schools, parents and facilitators for their support and looked forward to more comprehensive interventions focused on our youth, ensuring they have a voice in our community.

The learners who took part in the youth camp will continue to receive assistance from the camp facilitators moving forward.
