October is Teacher’s Month!
To acknowledge the hard work and often-thankless task teachers perform on a daily basis, we at Weslander are looking to honour or give due recognition to such individuals on the West Coast by selecting the Weslander Teacher of the Year 2022 in four different categories – in other words, there will be four winners.
Entries for the honour are now open. Learners, colleagues and parents are invited to send in nominations now of those educators who go the extra mile in their learners’ education and help pave the way for their future.
The Weslander Teacher of the Year 2022 can be nominated in the following categories:. Foundation phase (Grade R to Grade 3). Intermediate phase (Grade 4 to Grade 9). Senior phase (Grade 10 to Grade 12) . School Sports CoachThe idea behind this last category is so the talents of those who sacrifice their time outside the classroom, on the sports field (and make a difference there) are not discounted.
Therefore, nominations for the best School Sports Coach of the Year are also welcome.
Send the name, surname and a photo of the teacher or school sports coach you are nominating, along with a short motivation for why they deserve to be crowned Weslander Teacher of the Year, to nuus@weslander.co.za or via WhatsApp to 082 576 0453.
Remember to indicate the phase (foundation, intermediate or senior) in which the teacher is nominated.
Entries close on Friday 7 October. The finalists in each category will appear in Weslander on Thursday the 13th, after which the winner in each category will be announced.
A small treat is also up for grabs for the class whose teacher is named Weslander Teacher of the Year.
