The second Walk4Safety event hosted by the Saldanha Bay Safety Initiative (SBSI) was a huge success.

Taking place on Saturday 22 November and kicking off at Weskus Mall, residents, officials and various stakeholders took on the 6 km walk. The purpose of the day was also to showcase that Saldanha Bay Municipality (SBM) is ready for the 2025 festive season.

Phumzile Mbaliswana, Director of Corporate and Public Safety Services at the Saldanha Bay Municipality, said the main purpose of the festive season plan is to provide a leading role in ensuring the coordination of safety and security matters from all the stakeholders internal and external through the SBSI.

“All the role-players are geared up and ready for the festive season,” said Mbaliswana. According to him the key focus during this festive season will be the zero tolerance on alcohol abuse, drinking and driving, zero tolerance on crime, addressing community concerns and ensuring an integrated approach in safeguarding residents and visitors.

André Truter, mayor of SBM, shared the same sentiments and urged all officials to serve with dignity.
