The Early Learning Resource Unit (ELRU) embarked on multiple journeys to celebrate Mandela Day. Together ELRU joined forces with Snyer Business Consulting (SBC), Pioneer Fishing, Sunrise Energy and the Saldanha Bay Municipality (SBM) to make it a memorable day.
Every contribution, no matter how small, played a part in making a difference. In conjunction with sponsors and SBM five ECD centres received mattresses, blankets and cleaning materials. Sunrise Energy donated two plate gas stoves and 9 kg gas bottle to six ECD centres in Louwville and Laingville.
ELRU’s fieldworkers also visited a local place of safety for children, providing soup ingredients for the winter and engaging in activities such as games, creative art and storytelling.
Each child received a story book to promote literacy. The day ended with hugs and smiles from the children who thoroughly enjoyed the ELRU team visit at Huis Hadassa.
In Laingville the day began at a beautiful church located on the premises of Destiny Day Care one of the ECD centres.
The day concluded with a handover drive involving SBC members, Pioneer Fishing staff and the ELRU team.
