Saldanha police are requesting assistance in solving two crimes that occurred on the same day in Middelpos.
On Saturday 14 May a shop owner (32) closed his tuck shop around 22:00 before settling down for the evening. While chatting on his phone later on he heard someone call him from the street outside.
He decided not to answer, and then four unknown men forced their way into his home. They were armed and threatened him, demanding cash.
When the shopkeeper explained he had no money to hand over, one of the suspects pointed their gun at his chest. It went off, but the bullet only grazed him.
The four then grabbed hold of a free standing safe and took off.
On their arrival at the scene police found the safe discarded in the street.
In an unrelated incident on the same day, a man (37) was sleeping in his shack in Joe Slovo around 02:30 when he heard knocking at his window.
He decided not to react, but as occurred with the shop owner, a suspect burst through the door.
Armed with a gun, the suspect threatened the man and grabbed his cellphone, which had been charging beside his bed. Once he had the Samsung A11 the suspect fled.
Anyone with information that will assist in solving either of these cases can contact Sergeant Khangelani Khabisoyo on 022 714 8333.
