Seeing the need among children in need, Saldanha resident Mandy Groenwald started her non-profit organisation Sponsor a Child Now this year.
She said the purpose of the organisation is to assist families who suffered during lockdown and who were still struggling. It also assists families who have children with disabilities. It does so by providing a meal or clothing.
Now, during the festive season, Groenewald wants to make this Christmas a little more special. “We are looking to partner with another food initiative to assist us in giving food to children and families,” she said, “and enlist the help of the public in donating any small toy or teddy for the children.”
Planning this initiative between Thursday 22 and Friday 23 December, they are in need of food, clothing, shoes, medical support, blankets, school stationery, school clothes and so much more. Groenewald requests help from the public and businesses in making this possible.
