The Open Minded, a non-profit organisation, recently planted 70 spekboom trees at Steenberg’s Cove Primary, St Helena Bay and the project is a resounding success.
Ashley Constant, founder of The Open Minded, said the children at the school were thrilled with the new additions to their grounds, and the principal was highly impressed with the initiative taken by the organisation.
“The planting of the spekboom trees was well received by the learners, who helped the process and learnt about the importance of trees and environmental sustainability,” she said.
“This hands-on approach to environmental education was well received by the school community and reinforced the message of conservation for future generations.”
Constant added that the spekboom trees will improve the aesthetics of the school grounds for years to come.
“In conclusion, The Open Minded NPO’s planting of 70 spekboom trees at Steenberg’s Cove Primary School was a great success and received positive feedback from both students and the school administration. The initiative served as a powerful educational tool and brought the community together to promote a greener future.”
The initiative was sponsored by Living Life with Ashley and Group Six Security Innovations.
