Seeing his father’s love for it, and learning from him, Peter-John Reid fell in love with dance at the age of 5.

The young man from Atlantis received the opportunity of a lifetime when he received a callback to participate in the International Modelling and Talent Association (IMTA) in New York in 2023. This after he excelled at the International Arts Talent Showcase in Cape Town last year. He also received a scholarship from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York.

“I was excited and honestly surprised, because there were so many amazing and talented people at the auditions, but I made it. It has always been a dream of mine to perform in the United States.

To make this dream a reality, Reid needs about R50 000 to cover his expenses. Hearing of this talented young man, Natasha Jantjies from Inspiration, a non-profit organisation in Langebaan, decided to reach out and assist and find ways to help raise funds to make his dream come true.

She said he truly crept into her heart, and she really wants to make a difference in his life and for him to realise his dreams. “He works very hard and I believe God placed him on my path for a reason,” Jantjies added.

Reid says this opportunity means the world to him, to be able to showcase his talent. His mother Leonore Reid Winnaar says she is extremely proud of him, because of how passionate, determined and driven he is to reach his goal of being a professional dancer.

To reach the fundraising goal people who wish to donate are welcome to contact Winnaar on 064 784 5618. Fundraising events will also be held in July, September and November.
