The chess players of Curro

Langebaan competed against the best of the upper West Coast over two legs of the West Coast Prestige Chess tournament recently.

The school produced three champions in the primary school section.

The results:

Under-9 boys: Justin Oberholzer (champion), Jano Niemand (third), Mikaeel Martin (qualified) and Nikolai Revmatas (qualified).

Under-11 girls: Kalika Bothma-Cilliers (qualified) and Miecke Kleynhans (qualified).

Under-13 girls: Tawana Kujinga (champion) and Madison Marinus (third).

Under-13 boys: Schalk Willemse (champion), Andrew Noble (qualified) and Tiaan Eksteen (qualified).

These players will go on to compete at the Western Cape Chess Championships, which will be held in Worcester during May.
