Sixteen cross-country athletes from the Langebaan Athletics Club (LAC) represented the West Coast at the Western Cape Cross-country Championships.
This took place on Saturday 27 August at the Olympia School of skills in George, where they competed against the best of the best from the Western Province, South Western Districts and Central Karoo.
Eight of the 16 athletes made it through to the Western Cape Cross-country team and will be competing at the South African Schools Cross-country Championships at the end of September in East London.
Athletes Valentino Beukes, Divano Fallet and Emmanuel Fredericks were also chosen to represent the Boland Athletics and compete at the Athletics South Africa Cross-country Championships in Rustenburg.
Their coach Christopher Rodgers said he is extremely proud of his athletes and gives God all the glory. Rodgers and John Hutchinson were also chosen to be part of the Western Cape Cross-country Team. Rodgers will serve as the assistant manager and Hutchinson as the technical officer. The athletes also need financial help to assist with all their expenses.
