The training unit of the SAS Saldanha prepares civilians for the military environment and, in so doing, cleanliness is a number 1 priority.

The Saldanha Bay Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Councillor André Truter, recently invited SAS Saldanha as well as TS Saldanha to Team Clean Saldanha on Saturday 12 March.

The morning started with a speech by Truter at Cartol Butchery in Saldanha, about the importance of keeping the municipality clean as it allows for a sustainable environment for future residents.

Young and old gathered with their refuse bags and gloves ready to clean the neighbourhood. SAS Saldanha members cleaned from Cartol Butchery up towards the base.

Sea Harvest sponsored the event with bottled water and Elbie Casterns, owner of Cartol Butchery, assisted with handing out water to volunteers as they were scattered throughout the fields.
