Sometimes women wear all sorts of masks to cope with life, but not many people know how many women struggle emotionally and mentally behind their smiling faces.

The morning of Saturday 27 August the women’s ministry of CRC West Coast presented an art therapy class at Curro Independent School in Langebaan. The class was facilitated by Debbie Chaney.

Chaney, who struggled with depression for most of her life, shared with the class how the Word of God was a lamp to her feet during her darkest days.

She encouraged the ladies to go to God first with their struggles. She said it is good to have support from loved ones as long as we do not rely on them to fix us.

“It is okay to take medication and see a therapist, but understand it is only Jesus that can truly help you to overcome.”

Quin Raath, who is one of the organisers of the event thanked all the women that attended the art therapy class and everyone who contributed to the successful event.

“It was a lovely morning of fellowship, creativity and healing,” Raath said.
