The Saldanha Bay Safety Initiative (SBSI) hosted a deeply spiritual and unifying Integrated Uniformed Church Service at Beacon Church in Langebaan on Tuesday 2 December.
Drawing safety and community leaders from across the region together, the gathering served as a moment of reflection, gratitude and renewed commitment as various agencies prepared for the demanding festive season and continued to support the global 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children.
Organised under the umbrella of the SBSI, a collaborative platform comprising law-enforcement bodies, emergency services, municipal departments, faith-based organisations and community structures within the Saldanha Bay municipal area, the service highlighted the power of partnership in strengthening community safety.
Spiritual leadership was offered, various departmental heads, station commanders and key role players were in attendance.
Explaining the purpose of the service, Joey Pieters, SBSI coordinator, said the gathering was intended to reflect on the year, thank God for His protection and guidance, and spiritually prepare all safety stakeholders for the operational pressures of the festive season. He added aligning the service with the 16 Days of Activism was essential to reaffirming the shared responsibility to protect women, children, men and vulnerable groups.
“It is not the work of one person or one department,” Pieters emphasised. “Our strength lies in unity. The SBSI brings us together as a family, and today reminds us that God has carried us this far and will continue to guide us as we serve our community through the festive season and beyond.”
The service closed on a note of hope, gratitude, and renewed purpose, reaffirming the commitment of all stakeholders to safety, compassion, and community well-being across the Saldanha Bay area.
