Twenty youth recently received web-design and -development skills training.

A total of 20 unemployed youth from the West Coast recently completed web design and development skills training through Techways NPO.

Graduating on Thursday, 24 July was a big milestone in the lives of the young people. These young individuals are now equipped to build professional websites and are stepping into the digital economy with confidence.

The graduation ceremony celebrated their journey, showcasing their work and highlighting the importance of digital upskilling for youth empowerment and economic participation.

Techways believes this milestone is not only a celebration for the participants but also a positive move for the broader community, a source of inspiration.

Rowan May (24) from Saldanha said he had decided to participate in these programmes because he had a passion for technology and creativity.

“I wanted to learn new skills that could help me build my own path in the future. I felt Techways gave young people like me a fair chance to grow and access opportunities we don’t always get in our communities.”

Cecil Jooste (30), from Vredenburg, who also took part in the programmes, said that as someone who has always had a passion for technology and creative solutions, he was looking for a way to develop his skills and build a future for himself.

“When I heard of the web-development programme, I immediately realised it was a unique opportunity not only to learn, but to discover a whole new direction for my career and life. This opportunity changed my life.

“The training not only taught me technical skills in web design and user experience, but also gave me the confidence to start my own business. This training has not only opened doors; it has opened up a whole new world for me. I firmly believe that with the foundation I have received here, I will reach even bigger platforms in the future, inspire other young people, and create opportunities for others.”
