Young women between ages 18 and 25 are encouraged to submit their applications for the new intake at the Chrysalis Academy immediately.

This is a life changing opportunity that young women across the Western Cape should not miss. Applications for the 24 BRAVO women’s course opened on 1 February and will close on the 29th.

There are clear criteria that have to be met to be considered for the course:- Applicants must be female between 18-25 years old;- Must have passed at least Grade 9/Standard 7 at a mainstream school;- Not be in employment, education or training;- Have no criminal record; and- Be resident in the Western Cape.

The Chrysalis Academy is an initiative of the Western Cape Government (WCG) that has seen more than 10 000 people graduate since 2000. The course consists of various phases and, among other things, the students will receive training in first aid, basic cookery, security training, being a peace officer, welding, office administration and electrical circuitry.

The programme commences with an induction, personal mastery, emotional intelligence, leadership, diversity, inclusion, drilling and fitness. There are also curricula in healthy living, environmental awareness and conflict management, which is all done in an effort to develop important life skills. On completion of the course graduates are also offered a 12-month employment opportunity through our Expanded Public Works Programme and are placed in various entities.

This is among others, inclusive of WCG departments, municipalities and the South African Police Service.
