The Saxonsea vaccination site opened on the 8 June to serve residents of Atlantis and surrounds.
The vaccination sites will continue to prioritise booked clients, who have received their appointment SMS but, where possible, also accommodate walk-in clients who have not yet received this SMS said Department of Health spokesperson Natalie Watlington.
According to Dr Keith Cloete, head of the Western Cape Health Department, the province is on the threshold of a third wave of Covid-19.
“We cannot guarantee that all walk-ins will be accommodated on a specific day, as this is dependent on vaccine availability, hence our call to citizens please to register on the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS),” Watlington said.
“This is a major operation, and the department of health would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding.”
Health workers are working round the clock to ensure a positive and dignified experience she added.
“We would also appreciate your support by waiting for your second SMS, as it will enable our sites to operate more efficiently,” said Watlington.
These SMSes will come in greater numbers as all these sites come online Watlington said.
To confirm one is registered on the EVDS or to update details, simply go to https://vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za/#/, type in details and follow the steps.
For any questions on phase 2 registration of vaccination, contact the Provincial Call Centre on 0860 142 142. “We also encourage everyone who is 60 or older please to register for your vaccine,” Watlington said.
“If you are not yet 60, please help someone who is. We are all in this together.”

Abdul Tajoodien, well-known businessman and local Community Police Forum (CPF) chairman, encourages other locals to register for the vaccine after he got his shot.
“Register for your appointment to take your anti coronavirus vaccine At 10:00 it was exactly 24 hours later that I had my jab and I experienced no after affects or any setbacks,” he explained in a message. “Please do not let all the negative information discourage you. Take the vaccine and be safe.”
