The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is committed to supporting matric learners in every possible way to pass the year and achieve excellent results.

Ultimately, their success will depend on what they put into their studies. This, in turn, depends on how they plan their time, how hard they study, and staying focused, positive and healthy.

The WCED wishes them the very best by encouraging them to study hard and rightfully claim their success and future.

To help them pass matric it has prepared a booklet, Tips for Success, to provide advice on preparing for the exams, planning study time and what to cover in each subject.

The full booklet or individual sections can be downloaded by using on the at the end of the article. The booklet includes the following: . 10 things to do to succeed in the examinations and tips for success. Example of a Grade 12 study timetable. Blank study timetable for you to use for your own planning. Self-evaluation. Make your dream come true: advice from learners who did well in past Matric exams. Bursaries and loans. Senior curriculum planners. Content/concept lists for studies

On the website learners can find documents that contain lists of the main concepts and content from the subjects studied in Grade 12.

It has everything from accounting, civil technology and dance studies to visual arts.

e-Learning support is also available under the tab “Matric Support” with various tips for success. They can enter the concepts/content of their seven or more subjects on their study timetable. These lists work well as checklists for them to keep track of how far they are with their studies.

These lists will give them an indication of how much work they have to cover this year, and enable them to manage their time accordingly.

They should work systematically through the concepts/content, making notes and mind maps using their textbooks and study guides.

Once they have covered all the topics, work through the examination papers from the past three years.
