The Atlantis Special Economic Zone (Asez) is diving into a two-week research project along with Wits-Real and National Business Initiative (NBI), to uncover the essential skills for installing, repairing and maintaining services in Atlantis.
The goal?
To gather data that will help these skills flourish, leading to more job opportunities for the young and talented minds of Atlantis. The study will analyse insights and feedback from key players in four South African townships, Atlantis (Western Cape), Mandeni (KwaZulu-Natal), and Mamelodi and Kathorus (Gauteng).
The project is presented by the Centre for Researching Education and Labour (Real) at Wits University, in partnership with the NBI, this research venture aims to make a real impact.
The anonymous data and findings from this study will shape an SMME Installation, Repairs and Maintenance hub, located right in Atlantis. This hub will connect small, medium and micro-businesses to formal industry, municipalities, hospitals, the hospitality industry and more.
It is all about enhancing services and offering support where it’s needed most. Not just for the business world. The results will contribute to academic pursuits and may just spark interesting conversations among scholars and stakeholders. Let’s build a brighter future for Atlantis together. Stay tuned for more updates and exciting progress.
