The lockdown in South Africa since its inception took a lot out of people in Atlantis, but it prompted some brilliant artistic and creative endeavour of all kinds. And among these is music.

This will be showcased in an online concert organised for Covid-19 prevention awareness, featuring some exciting entertainers, which takes place on Sunday 30 August.

The past few months have seen many online concerts worldwide, and across South Africa, with at least two artists from Atlantis jumping on the bandwagon and entertaining online.

Jerome Maker, who initiated the Covid-19 Entertainment Awareness Drive, to educate people on preventative regulations and how to stay safe, has joined forces with newly established, like-minded band Motown SA, founded in Atlantis, with artists who have travelled the world as solo acts or band members using their talents for educational purposes. In their truck they crisscross the country, and at home in Atlantis they spread the gospel of adhering to sanitary practices necessary for the prevention of Covid-19 and its spread, including social distancing, washing hands and masking up, and keeping safe and healthy.

They play a central part in the forthcoming concert programme featuring exciting entertainers, which takes place on 30 August.

It is supported by political leaders ad figures such as Trevor Magerman, Ben Adams, André Valentine, Curt Snyers from Lockdown Radio (an online radio station) and Radio Atlantis.

Sponsors include local businesspeople, such as Sadick Adams of Dicky’s Barbershop, also a Covid-19 survivor.
