The Mamre Petrol Heads (MPH) recently held their first charity fundraising event.
The MPH was conceived in September 2015, during the weekend of the flower festival when there were a need for a car club to escort the drum majorettes to the festival grounds.
Dean Fraser, president of the MPH, used social media to invite all his car enthusiast friends onto one platform – called Mamre karre. “Because of our passion for cars the group decided to start a car club and on 18 June 2016 MPH was born,” explained Fraser.
The aim of the social group is to give back to the community.
“We held our first charity event, a boerewors sale on Saturday 4 February in aid of Shady’s Feeding Kitchen,” Fraser said. “The day was blessed and we reached our goal in a few hours. Support from the community was tremendous.”
The rules of the club are simple, family comes first. Charity is also one of their biggest focus areas. They always adhere to the rules of the road and does not participate in illegal gatherings.
The club helps to raise awareness and funds with a cruise every year as well as various one-time shows throughout the year.
“We would like to thank our neighbouring clubs, MK1 Lifestyle and Team Dapper X, for supporting this event,” Fraser said. “Also, a big ‘thank you’ to our sponsors Sha-Zah, Joseph Liedeman and others.”
