This year is a celebratory year for Hisense South Africa, what with the 10th anniversary its local factory in Atlantis, a milestone that was celebrated on Tuesday 6 June.

Workers there are responsible for manufacturing, assembling and distributing technology, including TVs, refrigeration appliances and B2B screens into Africa and Europe.

According to Hisense the anniversary also coincides with the manufacture of the factory’s millionth TV and refrigerator.

“Due to high production volumes it has created more than 100 direct employment opportunities for the local community,” the company said in a statement,

“It has indirectly created more than 5 000 employment opportunities for local vendors across several supporting industries.

“The resilience of the Hisense South African Company opens opportunities for further innovation and growth, which is a cornerstone of the Hisense Group.”

Among the company’s accomplishments in this period, in light of continuous load shedding, Hisense SA redirected the use of their branded solar-powered lamps from a sales to a corporate social responsibility purpose.

Hisense SA management chose to donate the lamps to learners in schools surrounding Atlantis. Lamp distribution will be focused on four government schools located close to the Atlantis Special Economic Zone.

Grade 11 and 12 students, who are preparing for important exams and making career choices, were also invited to tour the factory and observe the processes of its operations for themselves.
