The new Heritage Market in Robinvale is well underway and should be completed before the start of the new financial year said ward councillor Moosa Raise.

He said the site was officially handed over to the contractor at the end of January and is progressing well. Moosa, who has taken the project over from Councillor Barbara Rass, said it had the potential to provide economic opportunities to residents of ward 32, its primary goal, in this way integrating this market with existing informal business opportunities in Atlantis.

“Furthermore, I foresee that this intervention can add to social cohesion and change the perception of Atlantis. We want to create a safe space where residents can enjoy themselves and create a real sense of family. The market is ideally located on the corner of Starling Road and Swift Street and has lots of potential for future applications.

“I want to thank Councillor Rass for this initiative, the sub-council and line departments, ward 32 ward committee and all who have played an oversight role this far. I am excited. I am a happy ward councillor,” Moosa says.
