X-treme Youth and other organisations will host a fundraising event on 30 April in aid of “little Gracey” who was diagnosed with juvenile myelomonocytic leukaemia (JMML) a very rare form of the blood disease, just two months after losing her mother, grandparents and uncle in a fire. Her only chance of survival is a stem-cell transplant.
Michelle Fortuin from X-treme Youth said the event with local artists will be held at Grosvenor Primary and it starts at 10:00. Fortuin said there will be a car park-off, live DJs and lots of prices to be won.
Entry fee for adults will be R30 while kids under 12 pay R10 to enter. Local artists like Che-V, Talitha, Denzel will entertain people while Suidooster actor Dean Smith will also attend. Vendors who are interested to rent a stall can contact Michelle on 071 874 0621 or Lizel 081 348 8461.
“As many are aware there have been several drives held to help address the plight of our little cancer warrior, to find a matching donor,” Fortuin pointed out.
“Not all of us are able to donate stem cells, but we can help the family with operational, shipping, lab and testing-kit costs.
“We urge one and all to help by donating to the SA Bone Marrow Registry (www.backabuddy.co.za/little-gracey) to help the family cover these costs.”
