In another instalment of empowering local Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) and assisting them with becoming compliant, Stoffberg Holdings hosted a three-day financial workshop in Mamre from 6 to 8 December.

Held in partnership with the Atlantis Seda office, and presented by outgoing project manager Micheal Fourie, topics covered ranged from costing and pricing to budgeting planning and tendering.

It was attended mostly by female entrepreneurs who are taking advantage of the opportunities presented to them, according to Peter Stoffberg.

The business owners that attended have footprints in construction, retail services, farming, designing and general service provision.

“The local SMME sector is now dominated by females, who are not afraid to set up a business and generate an income for their families and grow the local economy.

“The content on pricing was well received because most business owners struggle with how to cost and price a product or service, and how to work out the profit, markup margins and fail to keep track of the expenses.”

The workshop assisted the business owner on structuring their business expenses and budgets, and increasing their business turnover.

The Seda financial workshop taught them the virtues of financial prudence and discipline. They were empowered with skills to plan their business cash flow better and cut cost on operational expenses said Michael Fourie, from Seda.

Stoffberg Holdings was appointed by the Atlantis Special Economic Zone in July to assist local SMMEs with compliance challenges.

These include renewal of business-supporting documents and registration with various bodies such as the Department of Labour, Sars for business tax and the Treasury Central Supplier Database.
