A local doctor says he has had 115 patients test positive for Covid-19 to date.

Dr Marco Cassels, whose practice is situated at the Dollies Building in Mark Street, Atlantis says it is with much gratitude and sincere relief that 113 of these patients have recovered from the dreaded virus, and are doing well.

He said: “Even though we had to explain over and over again the same information to each patient, the facial expressions and trembling voices when sharing their results with them will never be forgotten.

“We remained positive in the face of the fear of the unknown, with follow-up calls and words of encouragement.”

Cassels says he felt a need to communicate this information with Weskus Nuus, so the broader Atlantis community can be filled with hope through the stories of those who have overcome this virus.

“Today, 10 patients gathered to share a photo to foster hope of recovery in others who are battling the virus, very often alone in the ICU or isolation facilities,” he pointed out.

“Whatever it is, we cannot live without hope. Keep fighting and may the day come that you will arise and overcome!”
