The Saxonsea Toy Library, Early Years Services, Mashakane ECD Centre, City of Cape Town, along with parents, enjoyed International Day of Play at the Mashakane ECD Centre Friday 28 May.

Jenni-Lee Richards, a community worker who established the toy library at her house in Saxonsea, said the day was all about fun. The City and Early Years Services provided the activities and a variety of games to keep the little ones busy. Richards said parents were informed about the dangers for children and the benefits of playing with toys.

Educational equipment and toys were provided by Early Years Services and the City of Cape town.

The day was a huge success, as most of the little ones saw these toys for the very first time and were also spoiled with luxuries Richards added.

Mummies were also educated about their health during pregnancies to secure a healthy baby. Avril Cupido, from Early Years Services, said the excitement on the innocent faces when they were introduced to the toys gave them satisfaction, and said she noticed parents were also part of the excitement because for most it was a first.
