The resurfacing of roads in the Avondale area of Atlantis commenced last week and should be completed by the end of March.

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate issued the notice to residents, road users and businesses that may be affected by the roadworks. The project is anticipated to be completed by Monday 25 March 2024, provided there are no unforeseen delays.

The work will take place on weekdays from 07:30 until 17:00; no night or weekend work will be done.

The traffic will be accommodated during the hours of construction and, where possible, traffic will be diverted around the site.

“Residents in Avondale, Atlantis will soon be able to benefit from these works,” said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas, “which will include the resurfacing of roads and the painting of road markings.

“These resurfaced roads will improve road safety conditions and riding quality in this neighbourhood

The affected roads are listed below: . Colebrook Street, between Grosvenor Avenue and Cottager Street. Doddington Street, intersecting with Colebrook Street. Duynbeek Street, intersecting with Colebrook Street. Dageraad Street, intersecting with Colebrook Street. Cottager Street, intersecting with Colebrook Street. Bon Aventura Avenue, between Chandos Street and Colebrook Street. Cybille Street, intersecting with Bon Aventura Avenue. Centaur Street, between Chandos Street and Colebrook Street. Ceres Street, between Chandos Street and Colebrook Street

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to thank road users for their patience. Road users are requested to use alternative routes in this period. Residents can expect a level of noise pollution at this time.
