Atlantis police officers were recently honoured for their hard work which lead to the conviction of local criminals.

Detective Sergeant Anthony Booysen, Detective Sergeant Jerome Pietersen, Detective Sergeant Donevan Christian, Detetive Warrant Officer Chris van Wyk and Lieutenant Colonel Theresa Reeves recently received awards for their work and were recognised for committed service to the community of Atlantis and surrounds, in combating crime and securing good sentences for up to 25 years according to police spokesperson Lisa Munro.

“Their concerted efforts in securing these sentences is exemplary and contribute to the positive image of Saps in the community,” she explains.

Det/Sgt Booysen secured a 20-year custodial sentence for murder. Det/Sgt Pietersen secured a 15 year custodial sentence for murder. Det/Sgt Christian secured a 12 year imprisonment of which 3 years is suspended for 5 years for murder and 9 years of which 3 years is suspended for 5 years for possession of firearm. Officers in Pella also showed their commitment to their community on Thursday 20 May at Pella Moravian Church.

An information session was held for senior citizens with the help of the City of Cape Town’s social development department and the Thuthuzela Centre to discuss domestic violence.
