The City of Cape Town’s Arts and Culture Branch invites applications for funding from arts, culture and heritage organisations and institutions located within the municipal boundaries of the metro.
Proposals should focus on providing creative and innovative cultural programmes through arts, culture and heritage that engage with environmental, ecological and sustainability concerns including challenges around climate change.
“The City annually partners with a number of organisations as part of our efforts to take arts and culture programmes to our most vulnerable residents,” said Councillor Zahid Badroodien, Committee Member for Community Services and Health.
“Many communities, and especially our children, do not have the opportunity to express themselves creatively.”
Proposals for Grants-in-Aid must be made in writing on an official application form, which is available from all sub-council offices and online at www.capetown.gov.za/grants-in-aid
All organisations should ensure they take note of all the requirements, registrations and documentation required as set out on the mentioned link.
The closing date for applications is 10 December, and no late or incomplete applications will be considered.
All applications for grant-in-aid funding will be assessed in accordance with the Grants-in-Aid Policy and conform to the Municipal Financial Management Act, Act 56 of 2003.
An amount of R689 000 is available for allocation and the minimum amount that may be applied for is R15 000.
Applicants must be realistic when drafting proposals as funding is limited.
Not all applicants will receive funding and the City will not fund entire proposals.
“I want to encourage organisations to apply for funding as soon as they have done the necessary registrations and have all the documentation required,” Badroodien said.
“Participating in arts, cultural and heritage activities promotes sustainability, strengthens the economy and sparks creativity and innovation.”
