Information received from the community led to the arrest of a 59-year old male and 57-year-old female for possession of illegal firearm and ammunition on Monday 4 July at 22:30, police spokesperson Capt. Lisa Munro said.
She said members attached to the Crime Prevention Unit had searched the address at Heathfield Court and found an illegal firearm with ammunition under the bath.
The owners of the house were arrested and after questioning told the police they believed the firearm belonged to their 31-year son, who was not home at the time of the raid.
The two suspects will appear in the Atlantis Magistrates’ Court once charged, Munro confirmed.
Once again, the community came forward with information of a firearm hidden in a wall at Canary Place, Robinvale, Atlantis.
On Thursday 7 July, at 12:15, members attached to the Crime Prevention Unit went to the address and found an illegal firearm and ammunition hidden as reported. No arrests were executed, but at least another firearm was taken from the streets, the spokesperson said.
“A big thank you to the community who help the police retrieving the firearm,” Munro added.
