1.2 The Following Ward Allocations 2023-’24 Progressive Capital and Operating Expenditure was at 98,7%.
Ward 23 – Capital & Operating Expenditure at 98,6%.Ward 29 – Capital & Operating Expenditure at 99,2%.Ward 32 – Capital & Operating Expenditure at 97%.Ward 107 – Capital & Operating Expenditure at 99,8%.
2. Road Resurfacing in Atlantis:
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate is currently busy with roadworks in various areas in Atlantis. The resurfacing of roads in the Protea Park, Saxonsea and Beacon Hill area has commenced this week and is to be concluded on 26 July 2024, weather permitting. The work is scheduled to take place between 07:30 and 17:30, Monday to Saturday. These maintenance projects form part of the City’s efforts to keep Cape Town moving by providing quality roads that are well maintained to prolong the lifespan of our road network. The City apologises for the level of noise over this period and some dust in the area as our teams complete the work in Protea Park; Saxonsea and Beacon Hill as efficiently as possible.
The planned work entails the resurfacing of the following the roads:
Protea Park: Marigold Street, Phlox Crescent Magnolia Street, Gazonia Street, Bergroos Street Bauhinia Close
Beacon Hill: •Aventine Lane and Calton Street
Saxonsea: Middenrak Crescent, Mauritius Street and Kent Crescent
Additionally, there will be works carried out on the stormwater system and infrastructure in these areas. We thank road users and local residents for their support and cooperation.

Successful Family Strengthening Programme in Pella with 20 Families through City’s Social Development. Successful event and workshop hosted by Artscape. Jazzathon, City’s Arts and Culture and Smile Productions at Saxonsea Civic Hall on 13 July 2024, with the Guitar Cartel in action as well.
Ward 32: Designated Vulnerable Groups – Information Session: On 13 June 2024 the Designated Vulnerable Groups – ward committee sector from Ward 32 held an information session and lunch at the Robinvale Community Hall.
Rates and tariffs from 1 July 2024:
• Property rates increase: 5,7% (for shared services like clinics, fire services)
• Eskom-driven electricity increase: 11,78% (City) (12,74% Eskom)
• Water and sanitation increase: 6,8%
• Refuse removal increase: 5,7%
The cost of providing the water service remains largely the same regardless of how much or how little water is in the dams.
