Young sportsman Ruhan Dreyer is continuing to build an impressive sporting résumé across both cricket and athletics.
Ruhan has officially been selected to participate in an international cricket tour to England in 2026, a prestigious opportunity that places him amongst promising young cricketers competing on a global stage.
He is currently a Gr.10 learner at the Klerksdorp Hoërskool, but still has firm foundations in Riebeeckstad, where he grew up and where his parents, Leon and Claudia Dreyer, still live.
His cricket journey began at just two years old, and his dedication has steadily translated into consistent performance. Since the beginning of 2026, Ruhan has already taken 15 wickets, further demonstrating his growing impact as a strike bowler.
Known as a dependable all-rounder, he contributes confidently with both bat and ball.
And as for his international exposure, this is nothing new to the burgeoning sports talent.
In 2025, Ruhan travelled to India on a cricket tour, where he delivered an outstanding performance and received a man of the match award, further proving his ability to perform under pressure on foreign soil.

To those keeping watch, Ruhan’s talent was evident from as early as primary school level.
Whilst at the Koppie Alleen Primary School, Ruhan was named cricket player of the year multiple times and earned awards for batsman of the year, bowler of the year, and all-rounder of the year.
In Gr.8, he was again recognised for his bowling ability, receiving the award for best bowler of the year.
Beyond cricket, Ruhan has also distinguished himself in athletics, particularly in the U16 javelin event. His achievements include:
■ South African champion in javelin (2023).
■ Free State champion (2024).
■ North West champion (2025).
■ Breaking the 60m barrier this season.
■ Achieving a new personal best (PB) of 62,86m.
His steady improvement from 58,48m earlier this season to well over 60m reflects the discipline and commitment that define his approach to sport.
At the Inter High in Potchefstroom on Friday 20 February, Ruhan threw a PB of 66,33m in javelin. He is now number one in South Africa in the U16 and U17 age groups.
The upcoming United Kingdom (UK) cricket tour represents not only international exposure, but also an opportunity to compete against top-tier youth talent abroad.

Participation comes with significant financial costs, and fundraising efforts are currently underway to ensure Ruhan can take up this opportunity.
The full amount must be raised by April 2026.
Every contribution, big or small, brings him one step closer to representing his talent on an international stage. With determination, discipline, and strong community backing, Ruhan continues to prove that dedication truly opens international doors.
