WELKOM – Ebenezer Amen Church in Welkom has launched a programme to encourage men to confront their attitudes and behaviour in response to gender-based violence (GBV) across South Africa.
The church’s Sons of Allen Men’s Ministry, in partnership with the Matjhabeng Men’s Forum, has initiated The Man in the Mirror, a programme that seeks to promote personal accountability and positive masculinity.
The initiative will use theatre to communicate its message. A theatre production will invite audiences to confront the realities of GBV and consider the importance of emotional awareness, respect and accountability in building safer communities.
The play was written by Paballo Nhlapo Montshiwagae, a published author known for the Seweding Stories Series and About That Valentine’s Men’s Conference. He is also a champion of the School Discipline Outreach Programme (SDOP), an initiative that promotes discipline, responsibility and positive behaviour among learners in the Lejweleputswa District.

The programme is described as more than a theatrical production – it is a call for men to examine themselves, acknowledge the consequences of their actions and become active participants in the fight against GBV. It also highlights the role of faith-based institutions and community organisations in addressing one of South Africa’s pressing social challenges.
The production is scheduled to take place on Friday, 13 November 2026, from 18:00, at Goldfields Casino in Welkom.
Tickets cost R200 per person.
Members of the public, faith communities, community leaders and those committed to ending GBV are encouraged to attend. For tickets and information contact
