WELKOM – A top fighter at the Ring Contact Fighting Arts (RCFA) Bhubezi Fight Club in Welkom, Brandon “The Dragon” Kelly, claimed two gold medals at the Best of the Best Tournament in Vereeniging on 25 July.

Kelly delivered an impressive performance in both the semi-contact high kick and semi-contact close combat divisions, winning every one of his bouts to secure first place in both categories.

His success was supported by experienced coaching from Shihan Etienne van Eeden of the RCFA Potch Ice-Team, who assisted him throughout the tournament.

Although teammate Junior Mosounyane was unable to compete and Keagan Smith had to withdraw because there were no full-contact opponents available in his division, Kelly ensured that the Welkom-based club returned home with top honours.

Sensei Joe Gladstone Ralejoe, provincial president of the RCFA and head instructor of the Bhubezi Fight Club, praised Kelly’s performance.”Brandon executed the game plan flawlessly and represented the Free State with distinction,” said Ralejoe.

“Tournament fight cards can be unpredictable, but he remained focused and delivered when it mattered most.”

The tournament victory provides valuable momentum as the Bhubezi Fight Club prepares for its next major challenge.

In August, Van Eeden will host the All Out War Tournament, which will also serve as the official Free State Provincial Trials.

The Welkom club will be aiming to build on its recent success as it prepares a full squad of fighters for provincial selection.
